The Art of Traditional Goldsmithing with
Sonny Bailey Aird

Friday 2nd October, 6pm - 7pm


Sonny Bailey Aird, the jeweller behind Rusty’s jewellery, invites visitors in for a tour of his new studio, which doubles up as his stylish showcase area for meeting clients. As he says -

“Traditional and lengthier techniques are prioritised over speed and convenience giving you a piece that is truly handmade, one of a kind, always”. In this session Sonny will demonstrate some of his traditional goldsmith techniques, explaining how and why he chooses to make pieces that are impossible to replicate and bear the clear marks of the tools that make them.

The Making of Contemporary Ceramics from Found Clay with Alison

Saturday 3rd October, 12pm - 1pm


Join ceramicist Alison Cooke as she describes her latest project about lost landscape and climate change.


Over a glass of fizz, Alison will demonstrate some of the techniques she uses to work with the challenges of firing unknown materials from construction sites and historical locations.

The Process of Raku Ceramics with Josie Warshaw

Saturday 3rd October, 1pm - 4pm


Experienced ceramicist Josie Warshaw will present a demonstration on the traditional art of raku firing in the beautiful Yard at Kingsgate Workshops. Enjoy her explanation of this ancient process and how it applies to her work about memory over drinks served from the Shed, our pop-up café bar.
